A teenage girl has died and five people have been injured after the car they were in crashed on Friday.

The 16-year-old Jordanian succumbed to her injuries after the vehicle suddenly overturned and hit a concrete wall on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, according to Dubai Police.

Brig Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman, director of Rashidiya police station, said: “The incident took place on Friday at 12.39pm. The 42-year-old driver, of an Arab nationality, overturned, lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete wall in Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.”

The accident took place opposite Silicon Oasis on the E311 in the direction of Sharjah.

Police said that three of the people involved had severe injuries and two had moderate injuries.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
