A Lamborghini caught fire near Wadi Bih in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

Civil defence teams were dispatched to the site - 20 kilometres east of the city - after the fire was reported at 10am, reported a Dubai-based daily newspaper.

No injuries were reported.

A video of the blue supercar showed flames coming from the back of the vehicle near the engine.

It is unclear how the fire began or who was driving but investigations are under way.

In 2015, a spate of supercar fires prompted police to warn motorists to service their cars frequently, particularly during summer, to avoid engine fires. They also warned against over-fuelling and over-revving, which can cause mechanical parts to become extremely hot and burst into flame.

Lamborghinis can cost up to Dh1.7 million.
