Seven motorists were injured in a series of accidents across Dubai this weekend.

Col Juma Salim bin Suwaidan, director general of the Traffic Department for Dubai Police, said four people were hurt in a crash involving three vehicles on Sheikh Zayed Road at 7pm on Saturday.

The accident occurred in the direction of Garhoud and was a result of sudden swerving and the vehicles not keeping to their allocated lanes, Col bin Suwaidan said.

Another accident occurred earlier the same say, at 11am, on Al Khail Road before the Oasis exit in the direction of Abu Dhabi.

A motorist driving a Mistsubishi crashed into the cement barrier between the roads. Police said the driver was taken to hospital suffering from "moderate" injuries.

Earlier still, at 6.30am, an accident between two cars took place on Al Khail Road in the direction of Sharjah.

Col bin Suwaidan said the crash was a result of a motorist not leaving enough distance between their car and the vehicle in front. One person was injured.

On Friday, at 11.25pm, a car collided with a motorcycle on a street undergoing roadworks in Lehbab.

Investigations showed that the motorcyclist lost control of the handlebar and swerved into the car. The motorcyclist suffered medium to serious injuries, police said.
