Police prepare for 1.5 million revellers in Downtown Dubai for New Year's Eve
Police have 5,000 cameras in place to manage crowds and ensure safety

More than 1.5 million people are expected to converge on Downtown Dubai for New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks at the Burj Khalifa, police have said.
Police held a meeting to discuss a safety plan for the upcoming celebrations.
More than 5,000 cameras will be used to manage crowds and ensure safety.
Roads leading to The Dubai Mall will be closed after 6pm on December 31, so police have urged people to use public transport and leave the car at home.
All metro stations will be open during the day, but Burj Khalifa Metro station will close at 10pm.
