Police in Ras Al Khaimah praise safe driving during Eid break
The force held a safety campaign in a bid to reduce accidents in the holiday
Police in Ras Al Khaimah have praised motorists for staying safe on the roads during the busy Eid Al Fitr break.
The force received 8,158 calls from the public from May 30 to June 8, a period taking in the long holiday for workers.
While police said many of the calls related to road incidents, they said the majority of drivers adhered to traffic regulations during the period.
During the Eid holiday, Ras Al Khaimah Police issued traffic tickets carrying a safety message in place of a financial penalty, as part of an initiative called, 'We give you another chance'.
Major General Ali Al Nuaimi, chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the force successfully managed the high volume of calls.
“Police departments and other concerned authorities took the right action and were able to handle the reports according to the nature of each call in the best way possible,” he said.
