ABU DHABI// Twenty-three people sustained minor injuries in four separate road incidents – one of which involved 69 vehicles – on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road on Saturday due to fog and low visibility.

Brig Khalifa Al Khaili, deputy director of the Abu Dhabi Police traffic directorate, said the authorities diverted traffic temporarily until they were able to clear the road.

“The first incident took place near the roundabout of the Al Saad-Sweihan bridge and involved five vehicles. The second incident, which involved 69 vehicles, also took place near the Al Saad-Sweihan bridge towards Abu Dhabi,” he said. “The third incident, involving eight vehicles, took place on the road towards Al Ain, and the fifth involved 14 vehicles.”

All those injured were transferred to Tawam Hospital, where five are still receiving treatment. The rest were discharged.

Brig Al Khaili urged motorists to abide by the traffic rules, especially in such foggy conditions. He added that investigations into the incidents were under way.
