DUBAI // An Asian man died and others were being treated for injuries after a bus carrying 10 passengers crashed near Al Quoz industrial civil driving education centre.

Dubai Police sent out a message on Twitter just after 7.30am to warn motorists about the collision. Other passengers involved in the incident were treated by paramedics at the scene and transferred to Rashid Hospital.

The crash was one of several incidents on UAE roads in the early morning rush hour on Monday.

Congestion and tailbacks soon accumulated after an accident on Sheikh Zayed Road after Ibn Battuta Mall towards Abu Dhabi, and another on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road opposite Jumeirah Village Triangle approaching the Dubai Investments Park interchange, also towards the capital.

Tailbacks were seen as far back as Al Khail Road. A further accident was reported on the D61 Hessa Street near Saudi German Hospital and also on the E44 Ras AL Khor Road after the E66 dubai and Al Ain intersection towards Dubai Mall.

In Abu Dhabi, a broken-down bus on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street at Hazza bin Zayed Street caused a brief delay to traffic shortly before 7am.
