One person died and three were injured in a two-car crash in Umm Al Quwain on Monday morning.

Police said the person who died was Asian, while the three injured in the crash in the Al Labsa area of the emirate were Arab.

UAQ's emergency services operations room dispatched police, civil defence and an ambulance to the scene after receiving a report about the accident at 11.15am.

The civil defence team managed to pull out the injured men, who were taken to Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are being carried out to identify the cause of the accident.

"Rescue teams, national ambulance and a crew of civil defence were dispatched after we received information about the crash and hydraulic equipment was used to remove people trapped inside the vehicles," said Colonel Hassan bin Surum, director general of Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence.

Col Surum urged motorists to follow the traffic rules and regulations, exercise caution and concentrate while driving.
