An Asian man died and five others were injured in a car crash on the new Al Aber ring road in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday morning.
Two vehicles - one containing four Asian people and another with two Emirati women - collided head-on and the Asians' vehicle was entirely burnt out after the crash.
The operation room received a report at about 8am and a rescue team along with an ambulance and police patrols were sent to the scene.
Brig Mohammed Al Humaidi, director general of central operations at RAK Police, said the accident happened on a road that was not officially opened.
"The head-on collision happened on a road that wasn't officially open and the car with the Asian people caught fire and was totally burnt due to the accident," said Brig Al Hamaidi.
"One Asian man died and the other three suffered from severe injuries, while the Emirati lady in the other car along with her Emirati friend suffered from moderate to severe injuries and were all transferred to the nearest hospital."
Brig Al Hamaidi urged motorists to avoid under-construction roads that have not yet been opened to the public, as unfinished roads pose a danger to road users.
