Motorists in Dubai will no longer have to display paper parking tickets on their dashboards following the introduction of a new e-ticket system.

A picture of the new ticketing system was shared by Dubai Media Office on its Twitter page on Monday evening.

The project will be launched in the first quarter of this year as part of the emirate’s paperless strategy.

“(This is) an innovative solution for paying parking fees in Dubai without the need for a paper ticket,” Dubai Media Office said in a tweet.

“The project which comes in line with the Dubai Paperless Strategy will be implemented in Q1, 2020.”

The media office also shared an image of an interactive menu, which would be available on the new e-ticket parking meters which will be introduced in the emirate.

Currently, motorists can avoid having to use pay and display parking tickets by signing up for an SMS service on their mobile phones.

The cost of public parking in Dubai varies by district, with the most expensive costing up to Dh4 an hour.
