Mawaqif paid parking will be switched on in the area near Al Raha Hospital between Electra (7th) from the north, Al Falah Street (9th) from the south, Fatima bint Mubarak Street (10th) from the east and Salam Street from the west, the Department of Transport announced on Sunday.
A total of 274 parking bays will be available to ease congestion and maintain a smoother traffic flow in the area.
Mawaqif has increased the number of parking bays available in Al Danah area by 77 per cent, from 353 to 627, including seven handicapped spaces.
It is strictly prohibited to double-park, park along yellow and black kerbstones, pedestrian walkways and next to fire hydrants, said Mohammed Al Muhairi, general manager of DoT’s parking division.
