A man died after being hit by a lorry near by Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday.

The 30-year-old Egyptian man is believed to have stepped out of his vehicle after it broke down opposite Ittihad University before being hit by a lorry, according to RAK Police.

“The victim parked his vehicle on the road side when the incident happened on Friday at around 6.50pm," said Col Ahmed Al Naqbi, deputy director of the traffic and patrols department at RAK police.

“It’s very dangerous to walk or stop on the road side of the road.”

Police said the victim was rushed to Al Saqr Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the lorry is being questioned by police and the case has been referred to RAK public prosecution.
