UMM AL QUWAIN // An Emirati man was killed in a car accident on Wednesday night on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road.

The motorist, who was in his late 20s, was driving towards Falaj Mualla when another vehicle driven by a woman suddenly entered the road from a roundabout and collided with him at 5pm, said Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at UAQ Police.

His vehicle flipped several times and then hit a sign and the man fell out onto the road through the sunroof.

He died instantly, while the female motorist and passengers who were with her were uninjured.

Col Aran said the cause of the accident was the woman entering the road without making sure no vehicles were coming, and the fact the man was not wearing a seatbelt contributed to his death.

He urged all motorists to adhere to speed limits, ensure roads are free of vehicles when entering them and for everyone in vehicles to wear seatbelts.
