A 38-year-old Arab man died and his passenger was injured when their car hit a roundabout amid low visibility and fog in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday morning.

RAK Police received a call at 3.15am about the crash, and police patrols and an ambulance was dispatched.

Brig Hassan Ibrahim, deputy director general of RAK Police, said that the Arab man died while the 37-year-old Arab passenger suffered moderate injuries.

“The vehicle hit the roundabout and then rolled over. The driver and the passenger were transferred to the hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead due to his severe injuries, while the passenger is still receiving medical care,” said Brig Ibrahim.

“The initial investigations showed that the accident occurred due to low visibility and fog, which affected the driver’s vision and ability to control the vehicle, and loss of attention.”

Brig Ibrahim said that RAK Police has increased the number of police patrols and ambulances in operation in cooperation with National Ambulance and Saeed to deal with emergency situations caused by poor weather.

He urged motorists to drive safely when visibility is poor, reducing speed and paying attention.
