Lorries banned from Maqta bridge

Lorries travelling from Mussafah to the Meena port area will be banned from crossing Maqta bridge, authorities say. Abu Dhabi Municipality said that from Thursday the lorries will have to get to the port area via the recently opened Khalifa bin Zayed Bridge linking to Saadiyat Island. The move is expected to improve the flow of traffic, ADM said, particularly along Salam Street and in the Tourist Club Area. The heavy volume of lorries accessing the port via Salam Street is diverted into the Tourist Club, passing in front of Abu Dhabi Mall. The road is heavily clogged during rush hours. mchung@thenational.ae
