Abu Dhabi drivers are to gain a boost after it was announced that parking will be free for two days to mark the Al Hijri New Year on Thursday.

Parking charges will be waived at all surface parking bays in the capital from 7.59am on Thursday, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced.

Parking fares will resume on Saturday, September 15.

The ITC has urged the public not to park their vehicles in prohibited areas or to block vehicles or the flow of traffic.

Motorists are also being asked to adhere to regulations for resident permit parking bays, from 9pm until 8am.

ITC customer service centres will be closed during the long weekend, opening for business again on Sunday, September 16.
