Cricket fans are facing traffic holdups ahead of the crunch Asia Cup clash between fierce rivals India and Pakistan.

A sell-out crowd of 25,000 people will cram into Dubai International Cricket Stadium for the first meeting in the emirate between the two teams.

The game gets under way at 3.30pm and traffic is at a crawl in the area surrounding the stadium in Dubai Sports City.

The doors opened at noon, with many fans filing in early to soak up the atmosphere on an historic sporting occasion.

Many motorists are travelling at speeds of less than 10kph as congestion continues to grow in the build-up to the game.

Tailbacks are likely to be compounded by the timing of the fixture, which coincides with the end of lesson times at many schools in Dubai.
