Pakistani family's car swerved off the road and overturned in a valley
A Pakistani family of three have survived a car accident on the road up to the UAE's highest peak.
A call was received by police about a car swerving off the winding road up Jebal Jais in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday at about 6pm and overturning in a valley.
The Pakistani father, mother and their 17-year-old son were driving up to the top of the mountain when the accident took place.
Major Tariq Al Sharhan, head of the ambulance and rescue department at RAK Police, said that the accident happened at the beginning of the road ascending up the mountain.
“After receiving a report about the incident, two specialised rescue teams were dispatched to the site,” said Major Al Sharhan.
“The three people from the same family were injured in the incident. The father and his 17-year-old son sustained minor injuries and were transferred by an ambulance to Saqr Hospital, while the mother suffered from moderate injuries and bone fractures and was airlifted in a helicopter to the same hospital.”
Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
