A motorist died after his car fell from the third floor of a parking complex at Dubai International Airport on Thursday.

The driver, from Asia, had been parked in a multi-storey complex in Dubai Airport Cargo Village. He is believed to have reversed his silver sedan too far and broken through the barrier before plunging to his death.

Police said they were called to the site at 8am and their initial investigations indicate he had reversed and fallen to his death.

Brig Said Al Mazroui, director of the Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said it was yet unclear why the man had reversed so far and that investigations were under way.
