Police said 27 people were injured when a labour transport bus crashed in an industrial area of Dubai.

The bus collided with a heavy goods vehicle about 8.30am on Wednesday in Techno Park, Jebel Ali.

The injured were taken to the nearby NMC Royal Hospital in Dubai Investment Park and several later to Rashid Hospital.

Dr Mahesh Krishna Ram, a specialist in general surgery there said the men had "minor to moderate injuries".

He said all had subsequently been discharged.

It is understood the workers were from a nearby perfume factory.

Brig Saif Al Mazrouei, head of Dubai's traffic police, later said four people had moderate injuries and 23 suffered minor injuries.

He blamed the crash on the two vehicles driving too close together, with an inevitable accident caused when the one in front braked.
