Travel on a section of the Dubai tram was suspended for about an hour on Wednesday morning after a vehicle crashed into a tram coach.
The Roads and Transport Authority stopped services between Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah tram stations while the vehicle was cleared from the tramway.
Bus services were deployed to ferry commuters between stations, the RTA tweeted.
Tram services were back to normal after the technical team restored operations after removing the vehicle that had crashed into the side of a coach.
The transport authority has urged motorists to adhere to safety regulations.
It called upon “motorists to comply with the traffic guidelines and the fixed speed limits, urging them to take extra caution when approaching tram junctions,” on its Twitter account.
There have been cases of accidents in the past involving vehicles and the tram.
A car required to be removed from the tramway in September last year after the vehicle was stuck after travelling about 500 meters on the tracks.
There was another case three years ago of a driver jumping the red light and crashing into a tram.
The RTA has also advised drivers to be on the lookout for pedestrians running to catch the tram.
Causing an accident that leads to a fatality can result in a fine of up to Dh30,000 and withdrawal of the driving license for one-year.
A driver will be fined up to Dh15,000 for injuring a person along with withdrawal of the licence for up to six months.
Jumping a red light can cost a driver Dh5,000 and revoking of the licence for up to three months.
