Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is offering another batch of lucrative number plates for auction later this month.

In total, 100 plates will be available featuring three to five digits in H to T codes.

Registration for the 56th online auction begins on Sunday, with bidding kicking off at 8am on Sunday, May 19.

"Online auctions are particularly appealing to a large segment of the community, as it provides potential enthusiasts the liberty of selecting their favourite plates in a hassle-free environment,” said said Jamal Al Sadah, director of Vehicles Licensing, at RTA’s Licensing Agency.

The 101st plate number auction, which was held last month, featured more than 90 VIP plates and fetched more than Dh23.47 million.

Millionaires entered a bidding war for plate number W12, which eventually sold for Dh4 million.

Plate numbers Z20 and Z222 fetched Dh 2.76 million and Dh1.75 million respectively.

Almost 800 cases of licence plate theft were reported by Dubai police between 2015 to 2018.
