Coronavirus: Dubai adjusts public transport schedule
Revisions come into effect from May 20
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has updated its schedule for public transport in line with new restrictions on movement to limit the spread of Covid-19.
The new schedule is in accordance with the revised hours for the daily disinfection campaign, which comes into effect from Wednesday, May 20.
According to the new directive, people cannot leave their homes between 8pm and 6am.
The changes apply to all public transport services in the emirate.
The red and green lines will start at 7am and end at 9pm.
The last trip on the red line from Al Rashidiya Station to UAE Exchange Station will start at 7.54pm.
The last trip from UAE Exchange to Al Rashidiya Station will start at 7.53pm.
The last service on the green line will start from the Creek Station to Etisalat Station at 8.21pm, and the last trip from Etisalat Metro Station to the Creek Station will be at 8:20pm.
Service will be available between 7am and 9pm. The RTA will run six trams to 11 stations with a service frequency of eight minutes.
902 buses will start running from 6am until 8pm, across 142 routes.
During the sterilisation hours, 74 buses will run on 13 routes: 8, 10, 12, A13, 17, C01, C07, F18, F21, F34, F43 and X23.
These routes will serve 19 public and private hospitals.
Water transport will be available on seven lines from 8.30am to 7pm.
Tourist lines on the Dubai Water Canal and Al Ghubaiba – Sharjah Aquarium Stations will remain closed.
Taxis will operate between 6am and 8pm, with almost 11,000 RTA cabs and nearly 7,000 limousines on the roads.
There will be 2,000 taxis during the disinfection hours.
Customers can also book their taxi riders via the Careem and Uber apps.
Shared transport will be available via U drive and Ekar from 6am to 8pm.
Customer happiness centres
Service centres at Umm Al Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha along with twenty service-provider centres will be open from 9am to 3pm but will close during the Eid holiday.
