Coronavirus: Abu Dhabi quietens down as three-day disinfection programme begins

Parks, the Corniche and main roads deserted as residents stay at home

Friday mornings are hardly a bustling time in the UAE capital, but with a three-day nationwide cleaning campaign kicking in, Abu Dhabi residents were staying at home.

The glorious Corniche, usually crowded with joggers and cyclists, was empty and parks, malls and markets were closed.

Even the main E10 motorway that links the capital with Dubai was deserted. Check out the photos by The National's Victor Besa above.
