ABU DHABI // A free bus service connecting two of the capital’s most prominent landmarks was launched on Tuesday.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre announced the start of a daily service carrying visitors between the mosque and the nearby Wahat Al Karama martyrs’ memorial.

The bus will run every 30 minutes between 10am and 7.15pm.

The centre also announced that special parking areas have been set aside for the shuttle service at the mosque and memorial.

The landmarks, directly across Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street from each other, are also connected by a pedestrian bridge.

Inaugurated by the country’s leaders on Commemoration Day last November, the Wahat Al Karama, or Oasis of Dignity, memorial site was created to honour the country’s heroes and their families.
