Adnec to operate commercial helipad on Abu Dhabi's 'leaning tower'
Helicopter access at Capital Gate is set to boost numbers of dignitaries at Adnec exhibitions
A commercial helipad on Abu Dhabi's "leaning tower" is set to boost the flow of dignitaries and high-level delegations at the adjacent exhibitions and conference centre.
The 35-storey Capital Gate building is owned by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec).
It leans 18 degrees and is certified in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "farthest man-made leaning tower".
Adnec secured the licence to operate the existing helipad from the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority.
Humaid Al Dhaheri, group chief executive at Adnec, welcomed the news.
"We are proud to have received this licence," he said. "The infrastructure of these centres is built to enable us to provide the best possible services to our local and international partners."
Meanwhile, the Hyatt hotel in the Capital Gate building is being rebranded this year. The hotel will become the Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi.
