DUBAI // Police warned motorists on Saturday to drive with care as the UAE was covered in a blanket of thick fog.

Motorists have been urged to make sure they leave enough distance between the car in front to allow them to react if there is an accident.

“We urge the motorist to reduce their speed and to drive carefully and safely due to fog on different parts in #Dubai roads,” said Dubai Police in a tweet on Saturday morning.

Abu Dhabi police also took to twitter to alert drivers.

“Low visibility due to fog formation on different parts in Abu Dhabi and highways,” said the tweet.

“Motorists urged to take extra caution.”

The fog began to settle over the country from the early hours of Saturday morning.

Many people took to Twitter after waking to see the conditions.

“People of UAE, use your fog lights in fog not hazard lights,” said one.
