ABU DHABI //  Police have issued vehicle regulations to boost traffic safety in Abu Dhabi on National Day.

Revellers have been warned against changing the colour of their vehicles, putting derogatory posters or expressions on them, and obstructing windows or licence plates with decorations.

Police have also enlisted civilians to help patrol internal and external roads throughout the emirate to ensure the standards are met on the day.

Brig Hussein Al Harethi, head of the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate, also warned drivers against "acrobatics" and overloading their vehicles with extra passengers.

It is also forbidden for passengers to hang outside the vehicle from windows or the sunroof.
