With rain showers forecast in some areas of the UAE later on Thursday, motorists are being advised by Dubai Police to watch their speeds in areas of standing water to avoid accidents.

Major routes in and out of major cities across the UAE remained largely clear and relatively traffic free this on Thursday morning.

One of the few areas experiencing congestion is along the D63 road in Studio City near Arabian Ranches heading towards the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) due to a heavy accumulation of rush-hour traffic.

The D69 road in Al Quoz in the direction of Jumeirah was also experiencing a gradual build-up of traffic, but most roads were largely traffic free.

Showers are expected in northern and eastern areas of the country later on Thursday morning.
