Two British brothers have been sentenced to three months in prison each for physical assault after they knocked out a man's front tooth.
On May 11 last year at Dubai International Financial Centre, the two brothers assaulted a Portuguese resident who was having an evening out with his wife and friends.
The man had intervened in an argument between the brothers and their female friend, asking them to calm down.
"One of them attacked me and knocked out my tooth and when my wife tried to step in, she was shoved to the floor," said the Portuguese man.
The men also choked him and punched him repeatedly in the face.
The brothers' father approached the Portuguese man's group to apologise for the actions of his two sons, but the siblings, 27 and 30, ran off before police arrived.
They were tracked down and arrested four days after the incident, on May 15.
During questioning, the two admitted charges of physical assault but were not present in court to enter a plea.
Both were sentenced to three months in prison to be followed by deportation.
