Three men died when a fire broke out in a warehouse in Al Quoz area on Sunday.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at 5:04am. “There were three fatalities and 54 workers were rescued,” said a Dubai Civil Defence spokesperson.

The three workers were all of Asian origin.

The fire spread to two other warehouses before fire crews, led by Lt Hussain Al Rahoumi, managed to extinguish the blaze shortly before 9am.

The bodies of the three workers were found in the gutted ruins of one of the warehouses just before 11am, according to a Dubai Civil Defence report. The warehouse stored posters, blankets and pillows.

Fire crews from Al Quoz, Al Barsha and Al Rashidya Civil Defence were all called to the scene to fight the blaze.
