AJMAN // Three workers were badly burned during a fire at a paint factory today.

The blaze started at about 10am, said Lt Ali Hassan Al Marzouqi of Ajman civil defence, with firefighters taking more than an hour to bring it under control.

The three injured workers, all Asian, were taken from the factory in Ajman's industrial area to Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital.

"The fire gutted almost the whole building, a large quantity of paint barrels and also destroyed two 4x4 vehicles," Lt Al Marzouqi said.

Fire crews removed the wrecked vehicles and made the building safe for forensic experts.

There were two other fires in the emirate today.

A villa belonging to an Emirati family in the Al Jurf area was gutted by a blaze that started in a bedroom. Lt Al Marzouqi said that most of the furniture in the home was destroyed.

In the morning, a fire at a labour camp in Ajman's industrial area destroyed several workers' rooms.

In both cases, the damaged buildings were made safe and entry granted to police investigators.
