Three Emirati relatives rescued a Pakistani driver after his heavy truck caught fire following an accident in Fujairah.

Fahad, Rashid and Abdullah Al Mutairi were driving back to their houses in Qidfa at 1.30pm on Sunday when they noticed a collision between two heavy trucks on the Fujairah-Khor Fakkan road.

One of the lorry drivers was trapped inside a vehicle that was on fire.

“The driver was panicking as his legs were stuck under the wheel while the doors were jammed,” said Rashid Al Mutairi, a 43-year-old Emirati policeman.

Rashid was accompanied by his brother Abdullah, 41, and their cousin Fahad, 28, who works at Abu Dhabi civil defence.

A nearby security guard helped them to extinguish the fire and within two minutes they managed to control it.

A civil defence team pulled the Pakistani driver out using special tools to remove the doors and transferred him to the hospital.
