In less than two weeks, two leading religious figures will meet in Abu Dhabi, in a show of unity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church, and Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, will be in the capital from February 3 to 5 for a series of events that seek to promote values of brotherhood and peaceful dialogue.
Both are also due to attend the Human Fraternity Meeting on February 4. On Monday, the logo for the meeting was released in anticipation of the summit. It shows two hands reaching out to each other in a symbol of co-operation and unity.
Other key events will include a Papal Mass at the Zayed Sports City stadium on February 5, which is expected to attract 135,000 people from the UAE and neighbouring countries; a visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Sheikh Zayed's tomb and a meeting with the Muslim Council of Elders.
Pope Francis and the Grand Imam are also due to meet with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
