Ten hikers were rescued after losing their way in a mountainous area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The helicopter rescue team from Ras Al Khaimah Police along with police patrols and an ambulance received a call from one of the hikers on Saturday.

“The operation room received a call from one of the hikers at 5.30pm saying that they lost their way in the mountains and were physically exhausted,” said Brig Mohammed Al Humaidi, director general of central operations at RAK Police

The rescue team managed to located the hikers in a valley late that night.

They were provided with first aid before being transferred to the hospital.

Brigadier Al Humaidi urged amateur mountain climbers, residents and tourists to plan their routes carefully and equip proper clothing and supplies before setting out.
