Ten Emiratis were rescued from flash floods in Al Ain Wadi on Wednesday.

Abu Dhabi Police said the trapped men and women were surrounded by water in Wadi Saa.

Search and rescue teams received three separate calls for assistance in the area and managed to locate all those in trouble.

The department also responded to 69 other emergency cases in the emirate during the storm.

The UAE was battered by heavy rain, hail and strong winds on Wednesday as a major storm engulfed much of the country.

Most schools were closed as a precaution and Abu Dhabi Police warned residents to avoid areas susceptible to flooding.
