Man accused of making death threats against his wife
Teenager protected mother from father's attack, court hears
A teenager had to shield his mother from a vicious assault by his own father, a court heard.
The 16-year-old stepped in between his parents after hearing his mother's screams and running into their bedroom to find his father carrying out an attack, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
The Emirati man, 43, allegedly beat his wife before his son's intervention, before grabbing a clothes hanger, choking her and threatening to cut her throat.
The incident is said to have taken place at about 3am on May 19 of this year.
Prosecutors said the couple had been having marital problems for a number of weeks before the assault.
“He was demanding that she get out of the house,” said the son.
“I remained standing between them to stop him from resuming his assault until my mother left the house.”
The Iranian woman, 31, told prosecutors her husband assaulted her and ordered to leave the house after an argument broke out between the two.
“As I picked my stuff up to leave, after my son stopped him from attacking me again, he was insulting me in front of our son saying that I was an indecent woman, using inappropriate vocabulary,” she said.
She told the court her husband threatened to cut her throat and bury her at their home is she came back.
The woman went to her family’s home in Ajman, where she was convinced to file a report against her husband.
The husband denied charges of physical assault, issuing insults and death threats when he appeared in court.
“It all lies, none of it happened,” he told judges.
The next hearing is due to be held on October 9.
