DUBAI // The third series of talks and exhibitions introducing the growing collection of the Louvre Abu Dhabi begins this month.
"It's important that Abu Dhabi's growing collection for Louvre Abu Dhabi is showcased in a variety of ways and the community have a chance to enjoy it prior to the museum's opening," said Hissa Al Dhaheri, Louvre Abu Dhabi programme manager at the Tourism and Culture Authority.
"Most recently, the Birth of a Museum exhibition and its public programme of workshops and performances showcased 130 works from the Louvre Abu Dhabi collection, which was successful and a testimony to our progress.
"Now the third Louvre Abu Dhabi Talking Art Series provides another opportunity to really investigate a variety of works and to bring to life their stories."
The first talk will be held on October 22 at Saadiyat Cultural District, and will feature a presentation from Sylvie Ramond, director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon, on French collections.
Dr Ziad Alsayid Rajab, board member of the Tariq Rajab Museum in Kuwait, will talk about his family's collection at the event.
The talks will conclude with a presentation on May 21 by Algerian author Waciny Laredj and Jean-Luc Martinez, president and director of the Louvre.
The speakers will address key elements of the growing Louvre Abu Dhabi collection, such as a 6th century shell limestone Greek sphinx and Picasso's Portrait of a Lady.
