DUBAI // A scorned suitor threatened to "send evil spirits" to make a woman mad and send her home a "lifeless corpse", a court heard yesterday. A Syrian identified as MS, 47, yesterday pleaded not guilty to stalking in the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance. The Tunisian woman, RA, 31, said the defendant would constantly bother her and telephone her, asking if she would marry him.
RA told prosecutors that after she refused his repeated proposals, the defendant began to follow her everywhere, including to her work and her home, and threatened to kill her. She said MS would also call her friends and claim to be her husband. RA said the defendant managed to enter her apartment even though her building had a guard, security system and secure key card access. The case has been adjourned until Nov 13.
