ABU DHABI // Spirit of the Union will remain the official theme for the UAE’s upcoming 44th National Day celebrations on December 2.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and chairman of the Higher National Committee of the UAE’s 44th National Day, made the announcement at a meeting with members of the National Day organising committee.

Sheikh Nahyan also approved the logo for the celebration, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Nahyan described the commemoration as “the most important day for this homeland, as it denotes the beginning of the country’s renaissance and is a symbol of security, welfare and progress at all levels in the UAE”.

“This day reminds us of our founding fathers, especially the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundation stone and erected pillars of this homeland and prioritised Emiratis,” Sheikh Nahyan said.

The nation’s leaders, Sheikh Nahyan said, have “followed his legacy, which made the country a symbol of progress, growth, welfare and security, not only in the region but also at the international level.”

Also discussed at the meeting were events and activities being planned for this year’s celebrations, highlighting the UAE’s values, heritage, culture and achievements.

Sheikh Nahyan said the participation of government authorities, the private sector, UAE citizens and residents in the celebrations will present a “genuine image of the UAE society’s cohesion and spirit of solidarity under the flag of the UAE and the wise leadership”.
