Six naturalised residents who had their citizenship revoked last year for allegedly committing acts posing a threat to the state's security and safety have been detained, their lawyer said yesterday.

"They were called to the department of residency at 11.30 yesterday and were transferred to Al Shahama prison," Dr Mohammed Al Roken said.

The six men have previously filed a petition in court to reinstate their citizenship. Their next hearing is on April 18.
