A camel shepherd has been charged with stealing bed sheets and kitchen tools from a farm.
Shepherd broke into farm to steal bedsheets and curtains, hears Dubai court
DUBAI // A camel shepherd stole bedsheets, curtains, kitchen utensils, and a gold set worth Dh7,000 from a farm, a court heard yesterday.
Prosecutors said that S A, 27, from Pakistan, broke into the farm in Al Marmoum on April 25 this year with two friends.
M A, 60, the farm’s Emirati owner, told the Criminal Court that when he returned home he noticed his door was broken so called police.
When he checked inside he found many items missing, including cooking pots, plates, glasses and a gas cylinder.
The shepherd was arrested after police matched fingerprints from the crime scene to their database.
During interrogation the shepherd said he had intended to visit friends for dinner, but that when he met them they asked him to help him burgle the farm.
“Only when I arrived did they tell me that they were not inviting me for dinner but brought me to help them in the burglary,” said the shepherd in his confession.
The shepherd denied a charge of burglary and a verdict is expected on September 30.
