Dubai // The Emirati artist Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid has been awarded the title of “Patron of the Arts” for the fourth consecutive year.

Sheikha Manal, the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, and daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, was given the accolade for her continuing support of the local and international arts scene at a ceremony yesterday.

The award was accepted on her behalf by Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid, chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, at a ceremony at The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel.

“It is my immense pride to accept this honour for a fourth year, and be among the list of distinguished personalities who have contributed to the expansion and growth of the UAE’s vibrant arts and culture scene,” Sheikha Manal said.

“This recognition also comes with a sincere sense of responsibility and motivation, to continue these ongoing efforts that will further fortify the role of arts in ushering a new age for our beloved Nation.”

Sheikha Manal has been involved in a number of initiatives in recent years to support the artistic community across the region and to nurture local talent.

“History is to witness the importance of art patrons, and I would like to personally invite more art enthusiasts to step forward and support to the arts in any way and form,” she added.

The Patrons of the Arts Awards recognise individuals, businesses, organisations and government bodies that have given financial support to artistic endeavours across the UAE.
