Sheikh Mohammed campaign to dress children given Dh3.2m

A project to clothe a million needy children during Ramadan has been given a further Dh3.25 million in donations.

A project to clothe a million needy children during Ramadan has been given a further Dh3.25 million in donations.

Dubai Municipality announced its support to the campaign with a donation of Dh2m, which will provide clothing for 50,000 children around the world.

"We are keen to support any humanitarian initiatives inside and outside the UAE, especially the initiatives launched by the leaders of the country," said Hussain Lootah, the director general of the municipality.

"They always teach us how to be real human beings positively responding to several serious issues in the world."

Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the campaign aims to dress one million needy children around the world.

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority have jointly pledged Dh1m to the campaign, and communications group Menacom donated Dh250,000.

So far the "Dress One Million Needy Children" campaign has distributed clothing to children across the region, including Syrian refugees and poor families in Yemen.

To contribute to the campaign, text "dress" to: 7040 to donate Dh40 and dress one child; 7160 to donate Dh160 and dress four children; 7240 to donate Dh240 and dress six children; and 7400 to donate Dh400 and dress 10 children.
