Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed speaks with Philippines president Duterte
Leaders discuss relations between countries
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, spoke to Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte by phone about ways to enhance co-operation between the two countries.
State news agency Wam reported that the talks focused on "bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance them".
Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Duterte reviewed the existing co-operation between the UAE and Philippines in all fields and the importance of developing co-operation to wider prospects in the best interest of the two countries, Wam said.
They also tackled a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The Philippines government is currently fighting a war on drugs and an insurgency against a Isil-affiliated extremist groups, including Maute Group in the city of Marawi and Abu Sayyaf in western Mindanao and the nearby Sulu Archipelago.
