Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed receives phone call from US President Trump

Mr Trump thanked the UAE for providing support to the areas affected by for Hurricane Harvey

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed on Friday received a telephone call from US President Donald Trump regarding the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces expressed the sympathies of the UAE government and its people over the damage caused in the areas hit by Hurricane Harvey. He also expressed hope that Hurricane Irma will be contained.

Mr Trump thanked the UAE for providing support to the people of Texas and for assisting in the re-building efforts following Hurricane Harvey.

Sheikh Mohammed and Mr Trump also discussed bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest, reported state news agency Wam.

On Saturday SPA reported that Mr Trump also called Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince to “discuss the friendly relations between the two countries and the latest regional and international developments”.

The White House said Mr Trump spoke separately with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad.
