The world's most proficient police squads converged on the UAE this week to take part in the Swat Challenge, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed turned up to see the final day's action.
The Crown Prince of Dubai watched events unfold at the Al Rowaiyah Training Facility in the Emirates' biggest city.
The UAE Swat (which stands for Special Weapon And Tactics) Challenge began on Sunday, and featured some 60 teams from across the globe.
Home squads from Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah took part in the gruelling tests, which included a series of scenarios that assessed tactical skills, mental focus and physical endurance.
These were themed as tactical events, assault events, officer rescues, tower events and obstacle courses.
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was shown around the area where the challenges were taking place and talked with participants.
He was also briefed on the teams' operations and tactics.
The challenge was organised under the patronage of Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
Daily cash prizes were on offer to the top three teams, with a total of $70,000 available for the event's ultimate victors, $30,000 for second place, and $20,000 for third.
A jury from the New York Police Department and Dubai Police will decide on the winners.
