Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, hailed the strong ties between the UAE and China as he met the country's foreign minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Saturday.

Sheikh Abdullah was welcomed by Mr Yi, who emphasised the importance of enhancing mutual relations, national news agency Wam reported.

They explored means to further promote ties and strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism and renewable energy.

The ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Libya, Wam reported.

The meeting was attended by Dr Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Ali Obaid Ali Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to China, and Yacoub Yousef Al Hosani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
