Sheikh Abdullah says UAE fully supports Syria transition

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister, said the UAE fully supports a transition to a non-sectarian government in Syria.

ABU DHABI // Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the Foreign Minister, said the UAE fully supports a transition to a non-sectarian government in Syria.

In a meeting with Ahmed Moaz Al Khatib, head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the developments on the ground in Syria.

The two discussed how the UAE could provide further support to the Syrian people in the current situation.

Sheikh Abdullah said that the UAE has been steadfast in supporting the demands of the Syrian people and called on the regime since the start of the uprising to end the bloodshed.

Sheikh Abdullah applauded Mr Al Khatib’s work in the short time he has headed the coalition towards uniting the opposition forces - noting that the continuos efforts and contacts with the international community, the Arab League and the GCC helped to achieve that.
