Sharjah Ruler orders Dh50,000 compensation for fire victims
The Ruler of Sharjah has ordered that the families made homeless by a fire that destroyed a tower block last month be given Dh50,000 in compensation.
Khalifa Al Tunaiji, the head of the Sharjah Housing Department, said his officers would "swing into action" to put Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi's directive into place immediately, according to the state news agency Wam.
Agencies that have already helped victims of the fire in the 25-storey Al Baker Tower include the Sharjah Charity Society, the Red Crescent Authority and the Sharjah Sports Club.
